Our annual online auction is live and I couldn’t be more excited to share it with you !  There are many wonderful items available that I think you’ll love.   I have enjoyed putting this auction together and I’m so grateful to those who have donated items.  Thank you so much!  Also, a huge thank you to our event sponsor, Green Horse Organics!  Two of their natural horse grooming products are available to bid on this week, as well. During the middle of this auction event, I will send out a very exciting announcement.  You do not want to miss out on it - trust me! Below is an item available for auction - Ember's first painting made available to the public! Nevada Mountain Sunset Painted by Ember, a rescued mustang

There are thousands of older mustangs in holding and most people won’t even consider giving one a home, and I understand why.  I’ve trained an older gelding myself - it’s not easy.  I’ve seen many older mustangs be passed up for adoption multiple times or sold for as little as $25.  They’re unwanted by most people. That’s one of the main reasons why I started Mustang Mission, to give these older mustangs a chance .  On this Giving Tuesday, will you consider donating to our facilities expansion fund to enable us to continue rescuing older mustangs?  Even a donation of $5 would be a huge help and we have a gift for you, too! It’s been almost a year since I won Alamo on the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) online horse auction.  When I began browsing through the auction a year ago, I decided that I would choose between three older geldings.  One was dark brown, one black, and then there was Alamo.  After much prayer, thought, and speaking with a person who knew them on the range, I decid

Dear Friends, I can hardly believe that 2022 is almost over!  As I was looking back over this past year of so much growth, several “firsts” came to mind, but one particularly stood out: I had to say “no” for the first time to mustangs in need .  That was one of the most difficult moments for me.  Knowing that I couldn’t save these mustangs, who needed so much help, made me reconsider my decision to start a mustang rescue. Both times I had to say “no” was because we didn’t have room to take another mustang.  Even though fundraising for fencing may be a “boring” aspect of a horse rescue, it’s so important.  It means more mustangs saved - a difference made in their lives.  The proper facilities are the reason why we CAN save mustangs.  Otherwise, it would be impossible to rescue them. I know that this is only the beginning. I will have to say “no” many more times - even though it hurts - and I know it hurts you, too.  That’s why we’re in this together.   We can only bring about change tog

I’m excited to announce that Mustang Mission’s first auction fundraiser is live!  You can visit the auction now. The items being auctioned would make great gifts (the holidays are just around the corner!) and some of the items are the only one of its kind (like the adorable stuffed horse above).  I am very grateful for the generous people who donated items - thank you so much! We’re hoping for a highly successful auction, which will benefit Mustang Mission and mustangs and burros greatly.  Please help us make that possible by sharing the auction link with as many people as you can!

You may have heard a rumor that we will be launching our first-ever auction fundraiser very soon!  In fact, it will be live in just about two weeks!  If you would like to donate anything to the auction, there is still time and it would be greatly appreciated.  If you're wondering what you could donate here are a few examples: book(s), art, product(s), service(s), toy(s), etc.  Please contact me if you have any questions! Keep an eye on this blog for the link to the auction once it's released! This piece of art, donated by Kathryn Wheeler, will be available on the auction.

Thank you so much for your donations, kind words, prayers, and support! Rune is safe and in the care of a wonderful mustang trainer, who is keeping her for a few days. I am so grateful to God for working everything out. It is a comfort to know that He loves and cares for each of these animals. Four days ago, Rune was the typical mustang in the horse slaughter trade - her future looked grim. Now, her future is filled with hope because of your generosity and prayers! However, we are still raising funds for round pen panels and Rune’s care. Again, thank you so very much! I pray that God blesses each one of you abundantly! ~Erin Phillips

Hello Everyone! Thank you all for your incredible support, prayers, and kindness! It is such a blessing to see so many people come together for a little mustang. Tomorrow morning is when I have to decide whether I can take Rune or not. Please take a moment to pray and share Rune’s fundraiser with your friends and family - it will save a life!   We want to say “yes” and defy the odds against Rune instead of saying “no” and allowing her to be slaughtered within a week. She is the face of so many mustangs in kill pens, and it is my hope that her story will inspire others to pass the SAFE Act and end horse slaughter. Please share our fundraiser for Rune! Thank you again for your incredible kindness shown to this beautiful wild horse. ~Erin Phillips

Help Save Mustang Rune!

Image
This little mustang, Rune, needs your help!  We have until Friday to get her out from a kill pen in Kentucky, before she ships to be slaughtered.  Rune was gathered from Nevada a of couple years ago, and has been let down by humans ever since.  She is a mustang with so much potential and doesn't deserve such a horrific ending.  As a "nationally protected icon" Rune shouldn't even be in this terrible situation.  She should still be living wild and free with her family band in Nevada. It is our goal to rescue this little mustang, defy what her grim future looks like now, and give her the best home she's ever known out of the wild.  Giving her a happy ending requires community effort - please donate if you can and please share this fundraiser with others.  It will cost $600 just to bail her out.  We will be quarantining her on our property, but we need funds for vet care, transport, feed, and hay.  Please consider helping Rune - it would save a life! Mustang Mission Rescue Update: There are several older mustangs up for sale this month by the Bureau of Land Management, and I would like to adopt one. Will you consider making a donation to help me get the rescue property ready for a mustang that is in danger of going to slaughter or a bad home? I would be grateful for your prayers and help with sharing Mustang Mission’s fundraiser. Any contribution will help to reach $5,000 by October 31! Your donations will be used to purchase: - Eight loads of dirt - A round pen - Wood to enclose a shelter If you know of anyone willing to donate any of these items, please feel free to give them my contact information. Mustang #7903 Mustang #7903 is from the Onaqui Mountain HMA (Herd Management Area) and was captured on July 16 of this year. He is 11 years old and Sales Eligible, which makes him more likely to be bought and end up in the slaughter pipeline. Introduction to Mustang Mission

Hello, I’m Erin Phillips, a life-long animal lover and owner!  My love for wild horses began with the “Cloud, Wild Stallion of the Rockies” documentaries I would watch with my family when I was five years old.  I remember the thrill of watching wild horses race across their range in freedom, then the sadness when the whole herd faced a government roundup by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).  Wild horse bands (families) were separated from each other, and stallions would desperately fight to return to their mares and foals. Two stallions living out their life in freedom - unless the BLM decides to remove them. For awhile, we didn’t watch those documentaries again (probably due to how much we had watched them!), and although I always knew that wild horses and burros graced our western plains, I almost forgot about them and their struggles.  Then, in 2017, I began thinking about Cloud and his family again and found The Cloud Foundation’s website.  There were many changes in the Pryor M
